Saltash Museum & Study Centre The Egyptian House in Penzance built in 1835 by John Lavin a Penzance mineralogist to house a geological museum. Situated in Chapel street it is a rare survivor of a style that became fashionable after Napoleon's campaign in Egypt in 1798. The house is owned by the Landmark trust the ancient egyptian centre is a 1930's style museum with real mummies and egyptian pieces mixed with reproductions in Dobwalls, three miles west of Liskeard. St Michael's Mount a rocky island crowned b a medieval castle and church. The castle was a former Benedictine priory now the home to Lord St. Levan, the family name being St. Aubyn. The mount is linked to the mainland by a granite causeway. In 1954 the St Aubyn family went into partnership with the National Trust and and the castle and its grounds were opened to the public.
